Advocating for
Youth and Families.

At Family Advocates, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued—and every family deserves access to the tools and guidance needed to thrive. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to support, educate, and advocate for youth and families throughout La Porte County.

Through trusted, evidence-based programs, Family Advocates serves children and families during some of life’s most challenging moments. Whether providing a voice for a child in court, offering a safe place for family visitation, or connecting students with caring mentors, our work is rooted in compassion, accountability, and long-term impact.

Supporting Children and Families Where It Matters Most

Family Advocates provides critical services that protect children and strengthen families, including:

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program

CASA volunteers serve as the voice of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Trained and supported by professional staff, volunteers advocate in court for each child’s best interest with the goal of achieving a safe, permanent home.

Harmony House – Supervised Visitation & Exchanges

Harmony House offers a safe, home-like setting where children and parents can maintain relationships through supervised visitation and monitored exchanges. Trained Family Advocates ensure visits remain safe, supportive, and focused on the child’s well-being. Free parenting programs are also offered to strengthen families and build healthier relationships.

School-Based Mentoring Programs

Through Slicer Champions and Wolf Pack Leaders, Family Advocates connects students with caring adult mentors who meet with them weekly during the school day. These relationships help youth build confidence, set goals, and develop life skills that can shape their future.

Together, these programs create a safety net of advocacy, education, and support for children and families across our community.
